April 2019 Awara Onsen Tsuruya (private), Fukui Prefecture, Japan

A couple who had a hot spring wedding at Tsuruya in Awara Onsen. A couple from Fukui Prefecture who met in Tokyo. All meetings were held in Tokyo. But they decided on “Tsuruya” as the venue after visiting the area with their parents. The guests were about 80 friends from all over Japan, mainly from Tokyo and Fukui. The entire building was reserved for a hot spring wedding. The budget was around 40,000 yen per person, including costumes. Considering it was a one-night stay at a hot spring hotel with two meals and costumes, the budget was just right.

Having lived in Tokyo and rediscovered the good qualities of their hometown Fukui, the couple would like all their guests to know the good qualities of Fukui. They wanted to spend their wedding day together with their guests. This is why they decided to have a “hot spring wedding”.

An “Original Profile Book” will be distributed to all guests on the day of the wedding. The book was designed to introduce the couple’s recommendations for sightseeing spots in Fukui and souvenirs of Fukui. The book could also be used as a sightseeing book originally created by the couple for the guests who gathered from all over the country.

Comments from Onsen Wedding

Since most of our guests would be coming from all over Japan, we decided to meet at a ryokan. Luggage was left in the lobby, and a chartered bus was arranged for the round trip between the shrine where the ceremony was held and the ryokan.

Since the entire Tsuruya Ryokan was reserved for the wedding this time, guests were able to use the private family bath, and after the reception, the club in the ryokan was opened for a relaxed after-party where guests could come and go as they pleased until the morning.

Furthermore, since the entire building was reserved for the wedding party, the ryokan was kind enough to allow us to hang the tapestry with both families’ family crests that was to be displayed in the reception hall at the entrance when we welcomed our guests! We were able to use the entire ryokan to our heart’s content.Since the entire Tsuruya Ryokan was reserved for the wedding this time, guests were able to use the private family bath, and after the reception, the club in the ryokan was opened for a relaxed after-party where guests could come and go as they pleased until the morning.Furthermore, since the entire building was reserved for the wedding party, the ryokan was kind enough to allow us to hang the tapestry with both families’ family crests that was to be displayed in the reception hall at the entrance when we welcomed our guests! The next morning, as they saw their guests off, they said, “This was the most fun wedding we’ve ever had. Do this wedding again! I fell in love with Fukui, and I want to come back here again.
