November 2021 Kagoshima-ken Myoken Ishihara-so

Wedding ceremony at Ishihara-so in Myoken Onsen, Kagoshima Prefecture, for a couple who live in Tokyo. The reason why they had their wedding in Kagoshima Prefecture, even though they live in Tokyo, was

  1. Bride’s parents live in Kagoshima Prefecture
  2. I have an elderly grandfather and don’t want him to travel too far.
  3. Groom’s father is from Kumamoto Prefecture.
  4. 30 minutes drive from Kirishima Jingu Shrine (a bit far)

It was a little far from Kirishima Jingu Shrine, but if we were going to have a wedding in Kagoshima, we definitely wanted to have it at Kirishima Jingu Shrine. Also, Myoken Onsen is only 20 minutes away from the airport and very accessible from Tokyo, so we decided to hold the wedding at this Myoken Onsen.

We had originally planned a wedding and reception for about 100 people in Tokyo, but due to the age of the Corona disaster, we changed it to a “hot spring wedding” for about 20 relatives. When we asked the couple after the event, they told us that they wished they had chosen a hot spring wedding from the beginning.

Comments from Onsen Wedding

The couple was preparing to hold a wedding ceremony with nearly 100 guests in the suburbs of Tokyo, but due to a corona infection, they decided to cancel the event and hold a wedding ceremony with just the two of them and location photos in wedding gowns. Since they were unable to return to their parents’ homes, they decided to hold the wedding at Myoken Onsen in Kagoshima Prefecture because they could have a hot spring wedding where both families could gather at a hot spring resort and spend time together instead of a wedding ceremony where they would have to gather in Tokyo. We had various requests.

  • I want to reassure my elderly grandparents by showing them a white wedding dress.
  • I want to thank both parents.
  • Difficult to come out to the city from rural areas
  • Schedule not set due to coronary infection control

Since it was difficult to hold a wedding for two couples with many friends and relatives in Tokyo, we proposed a wedding ceremony at their relatives’ place. What we wanted to achieve was simple, so we decided on a hot spring wedding that could combine a trip to a hot spring with the wedding ceremony.

Myoken Ishihara-so welcomed us without a preliminary inspection visit. The day before, we had our first on-site meeting with the hot spring wedding team.

  • No sound system in the banquet hall.
  • Change of table setting
  • Where to place packages that had been sent

The onsite response at Ishihara-so, one of the most popular hot spring resorts in Kirishima, impressed not only the guests but also all the staff members who arrived at the site. The manager, who had made reservations by phone and prepared for the meeting mainly by e-mail. He kept one of the guest rooms as a baggage management room, and we were able to smoothly prepare a large screen and flowers for the venue (kept in refrigerated storage).
